#LAMPJUNKIEUK BESPOKE UPCYCLED VINTAGE LAMPS
IN THE BEGINNING
Hi I am Stephanie Young. Always the creative, I have now reach a point in my life where I crave to do something hands-on – and so Lamp Junkie was born! It all started with an old yellow rail torch that I discovered on a trip around Wales in my amazing camper van, Percy. Instantly I knew the torch would look great cleaned up and converted into a working lamp. This idea festered in my mind until I could no longer control the urge, and I set out to find some more fabulous gems to give a new lease of life to.Being creative is in my DNA and I was always in the shed or garden with my Grandad making and fixing things. I have worked in many creative industries as a graphic designer, and have also enjoyed additional pursuits such as ghetto screen printing; t-shirts, badges and artwork, running a few independent galleries; Egremont Space and Cub Culture and making ornamental stained glass creations. Writing lyrics, singing and producing music. Plus writing and illustrating kids books – there is no endpoint.
RESTORED & REBORN
Every individual piece is loving hand-made by myself, an independent trader based at Shoreham-by-sea in the UK. There is a full process of care starting from delicately cleaning each item to remove decades of grim, then restoring its natural beauty with a variety of technics to embellish, preserve and stop the ageing process. On the opposite end I age and tarnish additional fixtures, fittings, screws and bolts to compliment each vintage item. Then there is a choice of colour and design of the fixture, cable, bulb, right down the to the plug to create a bespoke design. The aim is not to just make a lamp, but to give it a personality of its own.
THE REST IS HISTORY
The special thing about making these one-off individual lamps it that every piece has a story to tell. I find it really interesting discovering the history of each item. I believe the new owners will also enjoy this snapshot of past times, so I provide a gift card keepsake with each lamp.

I love working with my hands, creating something real out of an idea, getting out and about to rummage for the perfect item and connecting with the local community. My passion is limitless and I hope to bring some of this excitement into the lives of others.
